Hubdoc alternatives for solo bookkeepers
Some bookkeepers report that Hubdoc no longer fits their workflow, though Xero still lists the product, so check its current status. Either way, the question is what you need most.
What to compare
- Price model. Per client, per seat, flat, or per document credit. Convert to the same unit before comparing.
- Extraction depth. Header fields only (vendor, date, total) or line items.
- Collection. Does it help you get documents from clients, or only process what arrives?
- Client effort. Does the client need an account or app?
Common options
- Dext: full-featured, priced per client with a minimum, so it favors larger practices.
- AutoEntry: credit-based pricing that can suit low volume.
- QuickBooks receipt forwarding: free, header-level extraction, one company at a time.
- Client portal tools such as Content Snare and ClientBrief: good at requests and uploads, lighter on matching to transactions.
Where Paperwork Butler fits
It is not a replacement for a full capture tool. It focuses on the chase: it finds the transactions missing receipts and asks the client about each one. Prices and features change, so confirm with each vendor.
